Double Sided SafeRack system for tank cars on one side and trucks on the adjacent side. Fall protection safety cages were included on both the truck spot as well as the tank car spot for safety. This system also has a safety shower mounted at the platform elevation. SafeRack for Hopper car fit inside existing building. Trolley beam fall protection was included in scope of work as well as turn key installation services. WIth this system, the operator can walk the length of the hopper car to access and open multiple hatches and maintain fall protection requirements. Dry Bulk Hopper Car System- Existing building did not have enough room to allow SafeRack system to be added inside.  Design (due to space constraints) included the installation of a SafeRack access platform and gangway outside the building. For fall protection, a trolley beam solution was chosen due to multipe hatchs on hopper cars needing to be accessed. The trolley beam was extended outside the building so that the operator could hook up prior to access of the vehicle. The operator can walk inside the building on top of the hopper car to access hatches. This system set up works well with uncoupled railcars or railcars with predictable lengths. For high volume loading racks, a single platform running the length of the railcars is encouraged because mis-spotting can be designed into the platform along with the reduction of travel up and down stairs. Note that extended top handrail of gangway helps remind truck drivers to raise gangway prior to exiting platform. It does so by protruding into the platform area.
