This is a MAXRack installation for loading Dimethylaminopropylamine (UN 2684), a bulk product used in fabric softeners and many personal care products including soaps, hair coloring, shampoos, and cosmetics. This truck loading rack is located in Fayetteville, NC. The loading rack is SafeRack’s MAXRack, a powered elevating and articulating safety platform for loading trucks or railcars, like 3-(Dimethylamino)-1-propylamine as in this installation.
MAXRack’s full vehicle loading safety railing system prevents falls from tanker and hopper trucks, railcars, and isotainers where operators require access to multiple hatches or washout caps. The system can be paired with loading arms, a wide variety of gangways, grounding, and vapor recovery systems or other specialty loading requirements.

Dimethylaminopropylamine Manufacturing Process
DMAPA is produced commercially with a reaction between dimethylamine and acrylonitrile. The reaction in the first stage is a raw reaction of products containing approximately 99 percent 3-dimethyl aminopropionitrile. The section stage is the remove any byproducts from the DMAPA through distillation in multiple stages. The remaining pure product has a DMAPA content of >99.5% (OECD, 2004).
Producers and Importers.
DMAPA is stored and transported tank trucks, railcar, and 55-gallon steel drums. BASF is the world’s largest supplier of DMAPA (BASF Corporation 1999; Huntsman, 1995).
There are about 10 suppliers of DMAPA in the US (Chemical Sources International, 2004).
