SafeRack offset cage gangway for loading pneumatic trailers

Before and After gangway to load pneumatic trailers

Salt River Materials Group of Tuscon, AZ needed safe access to the tops of pneumatic trailers to load fly ash. The system installed by a previous vendor included a makeshift ramp and did not provide OSHA compliant fall protection for operators. Regional Account Manager Nathan Elliott made a site visit and determined that a cement industry gangway and cage system were the ideal solution. SafeRack gangways are built to withstand the heavy usage the cement industry demands. Our special offset cages have an extended profile lower railing giving extra protection for operators while accessing pneumatic trailers. This offset cage design also ensures that hatches can open in any direction and not interfere with the access gangway or cage.

Nathan and his team designed a custom retrofitted Pneumatic Truck Hatching Station that allowed the customer’s existing platform to be salvaged. The new gangway was mounted to the existing platform which eliminated the need for a new platform, significantly reducing the total cost of the hatching station and considerably improved safety when opening and closing hatches in their fly ash operations.
