Civacon Opti-Therm rack monitors are used to automatically recognize the type of overfill system (optic or thermistor signal technology) that is being used on a transport. When connected to the transport,
the monitor checks the status of sensors within tanks or compartments. Overfill detection systems such as the 8460 provide automatic warning of product overfill detection at predetermined levels and warn of a pending overfill condition.
The 8460 Opti-Therm Overfill Detection System recognizes the signal technology on the transport, verifies grounding, and communicates with the terminal automation system (T.A.S). The 8460SRC is a direct replacement chassis upgrading other systems with a simple drop-in technology.
Optic Rack Monitor Model 8130 (Top/Bottom Loading)
When sensors on the transport are dry, a signal is returned to the monitor. If the signal meets pre-determined characteristics, the monitor goes to a “permissive” state, which changes the status light on the front of the monitor from red (“non-permissive”) to green (“permissive”).
However, if the sensor becomes wet, the relay is opened and the status light changes to red (non-permissive), which shuts down the loading process. And if the bypass mode is activated, the green and red status lights will flash alternately. If the monitor doesn't receive a proper ground verification signal, the red status light will flash repeatedly, shutting down the loading process. For added safety, ground verification cannot be bypassed.
