Recognizing the burgeoning demand in the Ready-to-Drink (RTD) category, Diageo, a global frontrunner in premium beverages, strategically expanded its product portfolio to include hard seltzers. The RTD market, which gained significant traction in 2021, is projected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.3% through 2030, reaching an estimated market value of $1.15 trillion.
To bring this initiative to fruition, Diageo partnered with Haskell, an engineering firm that successfully managed and executed the project within a stringent timeline. The comprehensive installation featured an array of SafeRack components—including gangways, safety cages, platforms, and loading arms—as well as additional elements like canopies, pipe supports, and lighting. These enhancements collectively aim to bolster the safety and efficiency of bulk loading and unloading processes, crucial for the facility’s beverage production operations.
Installation Details
The new installation at Diageo’s facility comprises four main components:
- SafeRack Gangway: This gangway is designed to provide secure and stable access to tank trucks. It features a slip-resistant surface and robust handrails, enhancing the safety of operators during the loading and unloading processes.
- SafeRack Safety Cage: Surrounding the working area near the tank truck’s hatch, this safety cage serves as an additional precautionary measure to prevent accidental falls from height.
- Loading Arm: This loading arm is engineered for the efficient and precise transfer of fluids. It comes with swivel joints for flexible movement for secure loading to the tank truck.
- YellowGate Safety Gate: Installed at key access points, the YellowGate safety gate offers versatile swing adjustments and is designed to fit a variety of openings. It serves as an added layer of safety, controlling access to restricted areas and reducing the risk of unauthorized entry and accidental falls.
