Maintenance workers are often required to access equipment on rooftops. Every industrial building has its own unique configuration depending on needs and infrastructure. However, workers frequently encounter obstacles on rooftops, such as utility lines and ducts.
This was the case for the facility featured in the photograph below. Large pipes spanned the entire length of the rooftop. Workers were forced to climb over the pipes to get to the equipment. Not only was this dangerous, but it made it difficult for workers to transport their tools and significantly slowed their progress.
The owner of the building reached out to the SafeRack team to inquire about safe and efficient access solutions. The SafeRack team installed ErectaStep prefabricated OHSA-compliant crossover stairs. Workers can now easily navigate the rooftop simply by climbing up a short flight of slip-resistant stairs onto a safety platform and descending safely on the other side of the pipes.
